The motorcyclist who died in a collision with a tractor on Monday morning in Ballymena will be buried on Friday, after a private service in his home and a thanksgiving service at Green Pastures Church.
Russell Cairns, an executive team member at Green Pastures Church, was killed after his motorbike crashed with a tractor on the Woodtown Road in Ballymena.
The 32-year-old husband of Danielle and father of Samuel, Abigail and Madelyn, has been described as a much-loved friend by the church in which he worked.
Mr Cairns was also a member of the small team that was working on ‘Project Nehemiah – the gateway to a city’ in which the church plans to build a village and community facilities on a 97-acre plot of land south of Ballymena.
Through his involvement with the church Mr Cairns was also part of the management at Pure Gym which will remain closed all week as a mark of respect.
In the tributes left to Russell, son of Anne and the late Samuel and brother to Brian and Rachel, he was described as a kind gentle man who always put others first.
While the family home at Cullybackey Road is private, Green Pastures Church will be open between 10am and 9pm “to pray and mourn together for our so much-loved friend”, a death notice in the News Letter said.
A book of condolence will also be opened at the church.
Mr Cairns will be buried at Cullybackey New Cemetery.
