Four grave headstones have been damaged by vandals in Carnmoney cemetery.
Paint was thrown over one of the headstones at Prince Charles Way while another was broken and others were pushed over, according to Nigel Dodds who said he was disgusted by the attack.
The north Belfast MP said: “It is disgraceful that anyone should violate the peace and sanctity of a cemetery. Such desecration is not wanted in Newtownabbey or anywhere else. Our thoughts are very much with the families affected by this vandalism who will be deeply hurt and upset.”
The incident happened at some point between Thursday and Saturday, police said.
Newtownabbey Bourough council parks staff are on site to repair the damage, said Mr Dodds.
Police have appealed for information on the incident.
