A man has been taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle after an accident at Fair Head near Ballycastle.

A lifeboat crew located him and administered first aid early this morning. A helicopter from Scotland then winched a paramedic to the scene.

A spokesman for the RNLI said: “In a difficult operation, the lifeboat crew and coastguards placed the injured man into a stretcher and recovered him from the rocks to the lifeboat.

“He was then transferred to a waiting ambulance crew at Ballycastle Harbour.

“His condition was stable.”
