A self-confessed internet porn addict who has a sexual interest in children wrote to Prime Minister David Cameron about the easy access of online pornographic material, a court was told yesterday.

Ernest Stewart, 59, from Richmond Gardens in Newtownabbey, appeared at Belfast Crown Court where he pleaded guilty to 12 counts of possessing indecent images of children, eight counts of making indecent images of children and five counts of possessing extreme pornography.

The court was told that when arrested in July 2011, Stewart told officers he was addicted to internet porn and was relieved he had been detected.

Stewart was placed on three years’ probation and banned from using the internet.
