Police are continuing to investigate after a man was discovered floating face-down in a river about a week-and-a-half ago.

The man was saved by a combination of quick-thinking and luck on the part of a bystander, who just happened to spot him in the River Bann, Portadown, on Thursday, June 12.

Local print worker Hal Vennard rescued him with the help of some young men who ran over from a nearby carpark.

He was taken to Craigavon Area Hospital, and discharged early last week.

The PSNI had arrested and later released a man following a suspected assault in the hours leading up to the discovery of the man in the river.

Today, they said he remains on police bail and that the investigation in the matter was continuing.
