Lord Bannside hits out at Jimmy Savile scandal

LORD Bannside has demanded more protection for children, as yet more disturbing claims about how Jimmy Saville abused children in a hospital emerged.

The former First Minister hit out at what he claimed were “double standards” that allowed the children to suffer, and slammed the laws that he said protected the abusers.

Writing in Friday’s News Letter, Lord Bannside, referring to the ongoing Saville allegations, said: “This past week, as each day progressed, we heard of more and more female children who were targeted and abused by a male celebrity.

“Alongside this, we listened in vain for news of little April Jones, another child targeted and taken. Satan has excelled!

“The smallest, the most innocent, and the least powerful of the human race, are soft targets, an easy prey for the vilest of mankind.”

He added: “We have laws that protect the targeters. We have sentences that do not fit the crime.

“We have tolerated double standards that allow a pervert to hand over charitable donations with one hand, while his other gropes the innocent! Why?

“Because it would be bad for business! The voice of a little one is a voice that has become too quickly talked down – seen but not heard!”
