A House of Lords peer has appeared in court on an assault charge, it was revealed.
Former Ulster Unionist Lord Ken Maginnis of Drumglass, 75, is accused of common assault, a Northern Ireland Courts and Tribunals Service spokeswoman said.
He attended Dungannon Magistrates’ Court in Co Tyrone today. The alleged incident happened on 7 June last year.
The defendant is from Park Lane in Dungannon.
A courts service spokeswoman said: “He faces one charge of common assault against Keith Kirk.”
