Man assaulted by gang wielding iron bars

A 22-year-old man has been assaulted by a gang wielding iron bars at a house in Ballygomartin Drive in North Belfast.

The assault happened before 9.40pm on August 22.

Detective Inspector Brier said: “It is believed that a group of masked men entered the property and attacked the male with iron bars. It is believed a female and a young female child were also in the house at the time of the incident, but were not injured. The male was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment to injuries to his body, legs and arms.”

The victim’s injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

A red Volkswagen Golf parked close to the house was also damaged during the incident.

Police would ask anyone who may have noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact them at Woodbourne on the non emergency number 101.
