A 52-year-old man has been charged with having guns with intent to endanger life, after police investigating dissident republicans searched a car in Co Down.
The vehicle was stopped by officers near Hillsborough on the main Belfast-Dublin road on Monday night. Two guns and ammunition were found.
The car is believed to have been under surveillance before the man was detained.
Police said the accused is charged with having firearms with intent to endanger life and possession of firearms in suspicious circumstances.
He will appear before Lisburn Magistrates Court, sitting in Craigavon, today [Wednesday].
A number of properties in west Belfast were also searched in connection with the probe into dissident republican activity.
