GCSE pupils celebrate best results ever at Markethill High School

Markethill High School is celebrating achieving the best GCSE grades in its history.

The Co Armagh school, which first opened in 1959 and has an enrolment of 500, saw over 80 per cent of pupils achieve five or more GCSE passes at grades A*-C. Nine pupils achieved seven or more A/A* grades in all their subjects.

James Maxwell, principal of the school said: “Today’s results consolidate Markethill High School’s position as a leading non-selective Controlled school in Northern Ireland.”
