Men flee after forcing way into property and assaulting householder

A man has been injured after he was assaulted in his east Belfast home.

Three men forced their way into the property in Lendrick Street off the Newtownards Road at 5am on Monday and scuffled with the 32-year-old resident.

Two of the assailants then made off towards the Newtownards Road while the third made off in the direction of Major Street.

Two are described as being approximately 6ft tall, of medium build and both wearing balaclavas, blue jackets and dark bottoms.

The third male is described as being approximately 6ft tall, with short dark hair and was wearing a red scarf over his face, a dark jacket and dark trousers.

The injured man did not require medical attention following the incident.

Detectives at Musgrave police station have asked for anyone with information to call them on the non-emergency 101 number, or call the independent Crimestoppers charity and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
