The mother of murdered teenager Michael ‘Mickey Bo’ McIlveen attended court yesterday charged with common assault.
However, 42-year-old Gina McIlveen was not formally connected to the alleged offence at Ballymena Magistrates Court after her solicitor asked Deputy District Judge Chris Holmes to adjourn the case so that she could write to the PPS about the future handling of the case.
Ms McIlveen, from Glendun Drive in Ballymena, is accused of assaulting Jonathan Quigley on June 12 this year.
This day last week, the last man to be sentenced in connection with the sectarian murder of her Catholic schoolboy son was told he will serve a minimum of eight years in jail for the killing.
Michael McIlveen was just 15 years old when he died in hospital after he was chased and attacked by a group of drunk Protestant youths in Ballymena on May 6, 2006.
Jeff Colin Lewis, 24, from Rossdale in the town, was only 17 when he was part of the group of attackers who battered the teenager.
