MOTORISTS on the main Belfast to Dublin road had a narrow escape on Wednesday, after a tanker overturned spilling slurry across both lanes of the A1.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Police said the accident happened when the tractor turned on to the dual carriageway at the Dromore on-slip shortly before 3.30pm.

It happened a short distance from where a woman was killed in a two-car crash on Saturday morning.

Later on Wednesday evening, fire crews were called to a farm in Co Tyrone after a calf fell into a slurry pit.

A spokesperson for the NI Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that the animal was saved from the pit at the farm on the Fintona Road, near Clogher.
