A MAN in his seventies has been arrested in connection with the murder of woman in Belfast almost 40 years ago.
Ellen McDowell was 21 when she was shot in April 1974 as she walked home with her boyfriend in the Shankill area of Belfast. It was suspected the shooting was in connection with a loyalist fued.
The 71 year old suspect who was arrested in Newtownards on Monday, is being questioned at Bangor police station about the murder and other offences.
