A delegation from the Presbyterian Church has met with Northern Ireland talks chairman Richard Haass.

Presbyterian Moderator Dr Rob Craig led the delegation during the 45-minute meeting.

Dr Craig was accompanied by the convener of the Presbyterian Church and Society Committee, Dr Norman Hamilton and Clerk Designate of the General Assembly, Rev Trevor Gribben.

Speaking afterwards, the moderator said: “We appreciated the opportunity to meet Dr Haass and his team, to listen to what they had to say and tell them of our observations, comments and hopes.

“We were very impressed with the grasp that they all have of the issues they are dealing with and the complexities involved.”

Dr Craig said his delegation believes Richard Haass is a good choice as chairman who will take account of a wide range of views.

“We left our meeting sure that we had been listened to and understood, with confidence in those taking part and in the process being undertaken.

“We wish these talks well and have assured Dr Haass and his team of the prayers of our Church for all involved,” Dr Craig added.
