AN investigation has begun into the cause of a fire at the Lough Erne hotel in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh.
Six fire engines attended the scene at the luxury resort just before 7am on Monday and the fire was extinguished just after 10am.
The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze began in the spa and pool area of the three-storey hotel. The building, of which the first floor was said to be heavily smoke-logged, was evacuated but no-one was injured.
Fire appliances from Enniskillen, Irvinestown, Lisnaskea, Belleek, and Strabane helped put out the blaze.
On Thursday it was reported that Lough Erne resort was one of a number across the UK being considered for the global G8 summit which hosts the leaders from some of the world’s most powerful nations.
