A short protest is due to be held on Tuesday evening following a number of attacks on Protestant homes at a Belfast interface in recent weeks.

The demonstration at Workman Avenue will be held to “highlight the repeated sectarian attacks on this vulnerable community to show support for the victims of these hate crimes and support the campaign for better protection for this community”, according to a memo sent out welcoming people to attend.

At the weekend PUP representative Billy Mawhinney condemned the attacks, of which there are understood to have been five last week.

He said: “This is a despicable attempt to intimidate ordinary people who want to live in peace in their homes.”

Police said the incidents are being actively investigated.

Protest organisers urged people to abide by the instructions of marshals at all times and stressed that no alcohol is allowed.

The protest will take place between 6pm and 6.15pm.
