Motorists are being warned of a continued risk of ice on the roads, as temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing overnight.

Roads Service said they will salt roads deemed to be at risk of ice or frost but warned that rain showers may wash the salt off those roads that have been treated.

A spokesman said: “Road users are advised to exercise extreme caution on all roads when travelling.”

Police warned of reports of black ice on the Magherafelt Road in Tobermore and Scraghy Road in Castlederg on Saturday morning.
