Site calls for boycott of Orange-owned businesses

Facebook page

Facebook page

AN online campaign has been set up to boycott businesses owned by members of the Orange Order across Northern Ireland.

The Facebook site - Boycott all Orange-owned businesses - is calling on members to help build up a database of businesses on a county by county basis as part of the boycott campaign.

The site which was just set up on Sunday, has been labelled as “a disgrace” by Fermanagh and South Tyrone MLA Tom Elliott.

“Obviously, this is an extension - by some republicans - of the cultural war against Protestant and Unionist people living in here,” said Mr Elliott.

“It is an absolute disgrace, and it is shows the levels which some people are willing to sink to.

“I will wait to hear what the condemnation is from nationalist and republican politicians.”

So far the Facebook page has only been ‘liked’ 11 times.

The person behind the page wrote: “Comrades, we plan to build up a comprehensive list of businesses, county by county to start with - can you Private Message us, if you know of any Orange-owned businesses in your area... Grma.”
