The father of the eight-year-old boy who died after a farm accident last weekend in Co Antrim is now in “a stable condition” in hospital.

Robert Christie and his eight-year-old son, also called Robert, were overcome with slurry fumes at a neighbour’s farm at Ballynaloob Road, Dunloy on Saturday.

The youngster died after being airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

His funeral was held earlier this week.

A statement issued through the PSNI press office this morning said: “Robert Christie Senior, who was critically injured in a farm accident last Saturday, is now in a stable condition in hospital.”
