Spirits high for first-ever Bushmills festival

The stage is set for Bushmills Live, the landmark whiskey and music festival taking place at the Old Bushmills Distillery on 20th and 21st June 2012.

MUSIC fans and whiskey lovers are converging on the Old Bushmills distillery for a two-day music festival which starts on Wednesday.

Bushmills Live – the first festival of its kind to ever be staged in an Irish distillery – will feature performances from Snow Patrol, whose fee is being donated to the Oh Yeah Music Centre in Belfast, Elijah Wood of DJ Wooden Wisdom and world-renowned artists such as Iain Archer, Foy Vance, Marcus Foster and Benjamin Francis Leftwich.

Thousands of people entered a competition to win tickets via the Bushmills Facebook page.

Among the lucky winners were fans from the USA, Portugal and Bulgaria.

As well as listening to great music, some of the winners will also have the opportunity to make their own blend of Bushmills Irish whiskey.

Colum Egan, master distiller at Bushmills, said: “We have been working over the past few weeks to transform age-old buildings, where the art of whiskey distilling has been practised for generations, into intimate venues.

“This will be a first in the 404-year history of distilling in the Bushmills area. Some of the biggest names in music will be performing at this landmark event – this is a festival that will be remembered for a very long time to come!”
