DUP MLA Lord Morrow has welcomed news that the Westminster all-party group on prostitution has endorsed the Nordic model of criminalising those who pay for sex.
The DUP peer said this approach forms a key component of the Human Trafficking Bill that he is pushing through the Assembly.
“Thus far, the only lobby groups to oppose the bill are those who have a financial interest in preserving the present antiquated laws or those on the extreme liberal/left end of the political spectrum,” he said.
Also yesterday, Justice Minister David Ford addressed the Westminster Joint Select Committee on the draft Modern Slavery Bill published by the Home Secretary in December.
He said it was an opportunity to detail his consultation on proposals to tackle human trafficking and slavery in Northern Ireland.
