This Ulster teen achieved a stunning tally of results in his GCSEs – despite being stricken by cancer during part of his studies.
Ted Mackey, 16 and from the south-eastern edge of Lough Neagh, was revealed to have nine A*s plus two As when the grades were announced yesterday.
The RBAI student had been forced to take roughly six weeks off from studies during year four, and yesterday said: “I’m in a state of shock. I wasn’t expecting to do badly, but really wasn’t expecting to do as well as this.”
A pianist and guitarist, he said his ultimate aim is to go to Cambridge to study music.
But he was just one of many students who opened up their potentially life-changing results yesterday morning.
