A security alert is currently ongoing in South Belfast.
The Malone Road is closed between the junctions of Adelaide Park at the Northern end and at the Cranmore Park Junction.
The alert follows two earlier incidents where controlled explosions were carried out in north Belfast and Holywood Co Down.
A suspicious object near Palace Barracks in Holywood was declared nothing untoward and residents were allowed to return to their homes in north Belfast after a controlled explosion was carried out on what is thought to have been a beer keg.
DUP councillor Brian Kingston condemned the alert in north Belfast.
He said: “This security incident caused massive disruption to a large number of people: residents evacuated in the early morning, primary school pupils unable to get to school, disruption to businesses and the many people affected by road closures.
“Whatever purpose lay behind this crime it will be rejected by the vast majority of society.”
