Two Ulster families have been plunged into mourning after separate fatal road accidents over the weekend.
One man was killed when his Mercedes car was in collision with a Vauxhall at around 6pm on the Banbridge Road in Dromore, Co Down, on Sunday.
Cattle dealer Jim Boyd was from the Drumaghadone Road in the town. His family described him last night as “the much loved father” of James, Laura, Julie and Mark.
The other driver in the accident was not seriously injured.
Tributes were also paid last night to father-of-three John Armstrong, who was in his early 40s. He died after getting out of a taxi on the Gilford Road in Portadown around 2am on Sunday and being struck by another vehicle.
Mr Armstrong was from Scotch Street in the town and was the partner of Emma and father of Sasha-Louise, Holly and Joel.
Locals said he had worked as a taxi driver. A statement posted on the Portadown True Blues Flute Band website said they were “deeply saddened yet again at the loss of an ex-member of the PTB in the early hours of this morning”.
“Rest in peace big man, our thoughts and prayers are with the kids and family circle at this time.”
