Two people escape from ‘malicious’ fire in north Belfast home



Police are appealing for information after two people were led to safety in the early hours of today from a ‘malicious’ house fire in north Belfast.

The fire was discovered at Mackey Street just after midnight on December 29.

Two people who had been asleep on the first floor of the property managed to escape using a ladder provided by neighbours.

A PSNI spokesman said: “A wheelie bin was found on fire next to the door of the property. Police are treating the fire as malicious and a motive is being investigated.”
