Video: Parties jostle for votes at Portadown

Waiting for Video...

There was good natured jostling between canvassers for votes at Millington Primary School in Portadown today.

A steady stream of voters made their way to the polling station throughout yesterday with some estimating that it was on target to see around a 60pc turn out.

A random sample of voters who spoke privately to the News Letter spoke passionately both for and against same-sex marriage and also on both sides of the immigration debate, as being key issues that motivated them to vote.

Several current and retired civil servants said they wished to see backdated pay claims settled or see their pay and pensions improved.
