A bugler, police outrider sirens and cheering crowds all welcomed Her Majesty the Queen to Hillsborough Castle this evening as she begins a three day visit of Northern Ireland with the Duke of Edinburgh.

First Minister Peter Robinson arrived some 10 minutes before the Queen, who arrived around 6.15pm, with Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness arriving some 30 minutes afterwards.

The Queen was welcomed to her Northern Ireland residence by David Lindsay, Lord Lieutenant of Co Down, and Michael Dayer, Chief Executive of Historic Royal Palaces.

She then conducted private audiences with the Secretary of State, First Minister, Deputy First Minister and Mr Dayer.
