Police have arrested an 18-year-old man after video footage was posted on Facebook showing a youth apparently removing a Union Flag from the Whiterock Orange Hall in Belfast.
Last month, a bin was pushed against the back door of the Springfield Road premises and set on fire.
A delegation of Orange Order representatives met with the PSNI commander for the area yesterday to discuss the ongoing sectarian attacks. Speaking afterwards William Humphrey MLA, who also acts as the press officer for the No9 district lodge, said it was a “useful” meeting.
“These attacks have caused huge outrage and are seen as attacks not just on the Orange Institution but also on the wider Protestant community in west Belfast. We welcome the police action to date and that some progress has been made,” he said.
