Windows have been smashed during a break-in at a Catholic Church in Downpatrick.

Entry was gained to St Patrick’s by smashing the window to the visitor toilets some time overnight.

The toilet was then damaged along with seven windows in the chapel.

A PSNI spokesman said the incident is not being treated as a hate crime.

Officers investigating this incident are appealing for witnesses. They can be contacted at Downpatrick police station by calling the non-emergency number 101.
