A 24-year-old woman is in a critical condition in hospital after falling from the rear emergency exit of a school bus.

She suffered a severe head injury in the incident in the Loopland Road area of east Belfast yesterday morning.

Police said it happened just before 8.30am.

The woman was taken to the Royal Victoria Hospital where her condition today was described as “critical”.

Officers investigating the incident are liaising with the Health and Safety Executive.

Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the incident to come forward.
