Woman dies after car enters Newry Canal

A 50-year-old woman has died after her car entered the Newry Canal in Co Down on Tuesday.

She has been named Patricia Campbell.

The incident took place several miles along the Fathom Line from Newry - also known as the Omeath Road.

The road was closed for several hours while specialist investigators examined the scene.

There were no other vehicles involved.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
