A man has been arrested after a woman in her 80s was left ‘badly shaken’ after being targeted in an aggravated distraction burglary in Lisburn.

The incident happened at an apartment in the Gregg Street area yesterday around 3pm.

It was reported to police that three men claiming to be working for the water service forced entry to an apartment in the area.

A PSNI spokesman said the elderly woman “was not injured during the incident but was left badly shaken”.

It is believed the males made off with a sum of money during the incident.

The spokesman said a 29-year-old man was last night arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary at the Market Square area and is currently helping police with their inquiries.

Anyone with any information about this is asked to contact CID in Lisburn Police Station on the non emergency number 101.

Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.
