A woman was punched in the face during a robbery in Ormeau Park in south Belfast.

The assault happened in between 4.40pm and 5.10pm on Friday when two females walking in the Ormeau Park were approached by two males.

One of the males grabbed a Samsung S3 phone out of one of the female’s hands.

She was then punched to the face as she gave chase.

A PSNI spokesman said: “The first male, who stole the phone, was wearing a blue jacket and sunglasses with short blond hair.

“He had a tattoo on the left side of his neck and possibily one on the inside of his left arm. The second male was wearing a dark jacket and was also wearing sunglasses.

“Police would ask anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who has any information to contact them at Musgrave on the new non-emergency number 101. Or, if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
