“He was Rector of this parish, along with the parish of Ballyward from April 2003 until August 2013, 10 wonderful years. He had the joy of being part of families in happy times of births, baptisms and weddings, but also was a great comfort to many families who suffered bereavement during his 10 years with us. He was known by all in the Rathfriland area as before he went into the ministry he was the RE teacher in Rathfriland High School for 17 years.”

The post adds that “none of us will ever know why he was taken from us at such a young age and we as a parish pray for his wife May, his children Ian, Sarah and Dan and their families”.

“We also pray for the parish of St. Matthew’s in Richhill who have lost their shepherd so suddenly.”
