Strategy is needed for sporting success

Following the success of our Olympians who have opened a new door of opportunity we need to look at how individual pathways can be planned from local club to national level for training, development and competition. Various sporting clubs seem to have existed for years largely through self-support and determination.

There needs to be an overall provincial strategic direction and the creation of a clear framework for success. In order for young people to have a choice and the ability to transfer between sporting functions an integrated plan is required.

Bureaucracy needs to be avoided that can sometimes smother the free spirit that fired up most local enterprises.
