THE body of a 25-year-old student has been released back to her family after she died in mysterious circumstances in Scotland.

Caoimhe Gault, who had modelled and even auditioned for a part in the youth soap opera Hollyoaks, was studying at the University of Abertay.

Her body was discovered in a flat in Dundee on the morning of Friday, March 1, and Tayside police described her death as “unexplained”.

Her body had been held by the procurator fiscal, an office similar to a coroner in the rest of the UK. But a spokesman for the office yesterday said it had now been released.

Scottish police said she was listed only as being from Northern Ireland in general, but she was reportedly from Co Fermanagh and had been studying nursing.

Meanwhile, the vice-principal at her former school paid tribute to her.

Sharon McKee is from Erne Integrated College in Enniskillen, where Caoimhe had done her science A-levels between 2004 and 2006. Prior to that, she had attended Mount Lourdes Grammar School in the town.

Mrs McKee said: “Obviously we’re really very saddened by what has happened. We’re saddened for her family and her friends. She was only 25 years of age. Having passed through the school here there are a number of people whose lives would have been touched by Caoimhe.

“I remember a lovely young girl, vivacious, with a lot going for her.”

She was not living in student accommodation when she died.
