Tennis dome where rain never stops play

AN open day was held at Lisburn City Council’s new ‘tennis dome’ facility in Wallace Park on Thursday to allow people to see the facility and find out what is on offer.

The event was so successful that overflow sessions had to be held on Thursday afternoon and on Friday morning.

Brian Cushnie, director of Tennis Fundamentals, which is assisting the council by providing tennis coaching and lessons at the ‘tennis dome’, said: “It was great to see so many children enjoying free lessons in the dome over the three sessions and it was such a relief for us not to have to worry about the weather.

“It felt very cosy in the dome when heavy rain fell and we were all warm and dry.

“Most of the parents visiting were very impressed with the facilities and we would like to invite anyone interested in tennis to call over and see the dome.”

Tennis classes for adults and juniors will start the week commencing January 14. To enrol, visit www.tennisfundamentals.com
