Thousands of people have turned out for a parade to mark the murder of two UDR soldiers in Belfast city centre 25 years ago.

The families of James Cummings and Fred Starrett who died when the booby-trap bomb detonated behind hoardings at Royal Avenue, are attending today’s memorial event.

Speaking ahead of the march, the Secretary of State Theresa Villiers called for respect.

“I urge everyone to play their part in ensuring today’s parade passes peacefully.

“This is an occasion which should be commemorated in a respectful way, and the rule of law must be upheld,” she said.
