TUV Councillor Jolene Bunting resigns from party

Today, she posted on her Facebook page: "It is with a very heavy heart that I must announce that I have resigned from TUV with immediate effect.

"I will remain on Belfast City Council as an Independent member, I will also continue to serve the people of Court DEA (Greater Shankill)"

Her online post has been inundated with good luck messages.

A TUV spokesperson said: "TUV received and accepted the resignation of Councillor Jolene Bunting this afternoon."

In 2014 Ms Bunting became the first TUV councillor to be voted onto Belfast City Council.
