As the fifth count gets underway for the two remaining Mid Ulster assembly seats, it seems the UUP and DUP candidates may fail to reach the 5822 quota, but any two of the three could still be elected.

UKIP candidate Alan Day was eliminated after the third count with 276.96 votes.

After his transfers were counted the UUP’s Sandra Overend is leading the race with 4959.12 votes, while the DUP’s Ian McCrea now sits on 3808.12 votes, just ahead of Keith Buchanan’s 3688.36.

Hugh Scullion leads the race among the smaller parties with 1,052.84 votes for the Workers Party, while UKIP’s Alan Day was eliminated with 276.96 in the last round.
