UUP take Dromore council seat

THE DUP have suffered a setback losing the Dromore By Election to the Ulster Unionist Party.

In a tight vote, UUP candidate Carol Black won on the final count.

And it was transfers from the DUP's arch enemies in the Traditional Unionist Voice which gave her the win.

The DUP have topped the poll on first preference votes but could not hold on.

Local Ulster Unionist MLA Basil McCrea said: "People on the doorsteps were saying there is a lack of principle in the DUP."

DUP candidate Paul Stewart said: "Our party will listen to this result and reflect."
