Video: Sinn Fein release footage of incident between Gerry Kelly and the PSNI landrover

Sinn Fein has released footage of events which took place at Carrick Hill.

North Belfast MLA Caral Ni Chuilin was taken to hospital following the incident in which Mr Kelly was carried by a PSNI along a street for a short time.

Sinn Fein has slammed the PSNI’s actions as “reckless and dangerous”.

The Ulster People’s Forum has called for Mr Kelly to be arrested for “obstructing police”.

“The Ulster People’s Forum urgently want the PSNI to review why they have arrested and prosecuted a number of peaceful protestors for a trumped up ‘obstruction’ charge when they permit Sinn Fein to obstruct PSNI land rovers freely,” a spokesperson said,

And independent Unionist councillor Paul Berry called for both Mr Kelly and Ms Ni Chuilin to be arrested.

“I would ask Matt Baggott why these two Republicans have not been arrested and questioned by police because of their open and public contempt of the PSNI,” he said,

A PSNI spokesman said: “The incident involving Mr Gerry Kelly and Ms Carál Ní Chuilín at Peters Hill tonight has been referred to the office of the Police Ombuidsman and they are investigating.”

The video clip has been released to the media by An Phoblacht TV.
