It is not cricket

I am at a loss to understand why Alistair Bushe should write at such length about Martin McGuinness's claimed interest in cricket (July 15).

If Mr Bushe is trying to paint the late deputy first minister and his cohorts as ordinary upright citizens who occupied themselves with innocent pursuits like that greatest of British sports, he needs to reflect on the immeasurable suffering that Sinn Fein’s bedfellows inflicted on innocents of all ages and backgrounds.

Victims have little time for any suggestion that such a track record is erased by a few smiles at the camera.
