Stormont should set high bar for marriage change
SSM is a political movement backed mostly by Sinn Fein supporters. It therefore has constitutional implications.
The bar for an Assembly vote is 50% plus one.
For such a vote given it is political the bar should be at least 75%.

Hide AdAlso the European Court of Human Rights (a body often quoted by Sinn Fein) in its ruling on June 6 2016 ruled that SSM is not a right.
For political change the bar must be 75% at least.
