The loss of Kevin Myers

So it will be carpe diem for writers in the halls of mediocrity.

No more jeu d’esprit, now that Kevin Myers has been brutally relieved of his vocation, and it would grieve me if journalists with half of his journalistic ability should jump on the bandwagon and secretly relish his demise.

Newspapers are not in such a strong position that they can afford to lose a writer of Myers’ stature.
