Tories have stood in NI for 30 years

I wonder what planet Walter Ellis has been living on for the past thirty-odd years.

In his article, (‘Within a generation of Irish unity, unionists will have found their place,’ November 2) he states that the Conservative Party does not stand candidates in Northern Ireland.

There have been Conservation Party associations here since the late eighties.

I was personally involved with a number of campaigns in recent years.

I would doubt whether his claims add up to scrutiny but either way if he wishes to engage in journalism he should make sure of the facts.
