THE News Letter website gets the views of prospective voters ahead of the Enniskillen by-election.
While no-one was willing to share their individual voting preferences, they did highlight the issues they think the winning candidate should be focusing on upon entering the council chamber - including the rising cost of living, parking problems in the town and health promotion.

On Wednesday, the people of Fermanagh's county town go to the polls in a by-election following the death of veteran DUP councillor, Joe Dodds.

The party had hoped to co-opt a candidate, however, this was denied following strong oppostion from the Ulster Unionists.

On the hustings, an increasingly bitter battle is ongoing between the two unionist parties.

The DUP selected a high-profile candidate in current Enterprise Minister Arlene Foster, herself a former councillor who initially stepped down to concentrate on her Stormont role.

Her UUP opponent is Basil Johnston who is keen to underline his 100 per cent commitment as a councillor, if elected.

Sinn Fein collected a strong vote in the ward in the last local government election and will be represented on this occasion by Debbie Coyle.

Other candidates who are standing in the 17 September poll are Kumar Kamble (Alliance), Rosemary Flanagan (SDLP) and Karen McHugh (Independent).
