ULSTER football fans were in a 'rush' to Belfast city centre in a bid to get up close and personal with a Liverpool legend.
The Reds' all-time record goalscorer, Ian Rush, paid a brief visit to the Province to sign copies of his recently released autobiography at a bookstore on Donegall Place.
Hundreds of supporters, many wearing replica shirts, made the most of the opportunity as the one-time deadliest finisher in European football signed autographs and posed for photographs.
The new book - entitled simply 'Rush: The Autobiography' - charts the career of the man rated as one of the top three players ever to have donned the famous red jersey by supporters themselves, alongside the esteemed company of current team captain, Steven Gerrard and former strike partner, Kenny Daglish.
The revealing life story discloses Rush's career could have been finished before it even started, after the former Welsh international was diagnosed with severe meningitis at the age of only five and spent several weeks in a coma.
After making a full recovery, Rush would go on and score 229 goals for Liverpool and win numerous honours as a pivotal part of the revered 1980s side.
Aside from the glory days, the 46-year-old also describes his personal trauma in the aftermath of both the Heysel and Hillsborough disasters.
While best known for his exploits in front of the famous Kop stand, Rush also played for Juventus, Leeds and Newcastle United. He has also delved into management since retirement with a short spell at Chester City.
Like our very own George Best, despite scoring 28 goals for his country, Rush was never able to showcase his talents at a major international tournament.
