A declaration against terrorism has been signed for the first time by Independent district policing members, it was revealed today.
The Policing Board has named 211 members to serve on partnerships across Northern Ireland.

Former republican prisoners including Sean Lynch, 54, from Fermanagh, and Rosaleen McCorley, 51, from west Belfast, will sit on the local scrutiny bodies.

Professor Sir Desmond Rea said: "We are now in a new era for policing in Northern Ireland, with support for policing from right across the political spectrum.

"The wide range of applicants from all sections of our community reflects the desire to achieve a policing service which is fully responsive to the community it serves."

A total of 23 of the 26 DPPs have been published.
